Prior to joining the Bar Mary worked at the Office of the Public Advocate. She has considerable experience in relation to guardianship and administration, Enduring Powers of Attorney, medical consent and end of life decision making. She has done considerable work in connection with civil detention orders and Part 8 of the Disability Act. She has appeared regularly at VCAT.

Mary worked for many years prior to her law studies as a nurse particularly in the areas of oncology and palliative care.
