Nicholas practices in commercial and construction matters in all jurisdictions. Nicholas currently involved, or appeared in matters concerning issues such as:
· Joint ventures in construction and property development,
· Construction disputes,
· Expert determinations and valuations,
· Minority Shareholder?s remedies,
· Insolvency,
· Environmental contamination,
Prior to signing the Bar roll, Nicholas provided advice to the United Nations Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) in Vienna.
In 2002, Nicholas undertook his articles of clerkship and practiced as a solicitor in civil litigation until joining the United Nations.
Nicholas has recently appeared in Candoora No. 19 Pty Ltd v. Freixenet Australasia Pty Ltd [2008] VSC 367, a case involving the valuation of the shares. Nicholas was led by Joseph Santamaria QC.
Academic Background
Nicholas completed his undergraduate studies at Monash University where he received degrees in both science and law.
Recently, Nicholas completed postgraduate studies at Monash University receiving a Master of Laws, specialising in commercial law and is scheduled to complete a Master of Construction Law at the University of Melbourne in December 2009.
Nicholas is a senior lecturer at a tertiary institution, lecturing in Building Regulations, Planning Law and Professional Liability for Architects. Nicholas has been a tutor in Constitutional Law at Victoria University.
Nicholas has delivered CLE papers on the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act.
