Peter had a broad employment experience prior to becoming a barrister including:
a researcher and speech writer for a Federal Parliamentarian,
a chief of staff to the ACT Deputy Chief Minister;
a solicitor in both government practice (the ACT Government Solicitor (Health Section and Government Section) and private practice, at Middletons (litigation department) and Phillips Fox (Health Department).
As a consequence he developed skills in administrative and general governmental law, and its practical application. In both government and private practice he specialized in health law, in particular medical negligence claims and issues. He has acted for a number of health profession boards, in particular the Medical Practitioners Board in matters of professional discipline. He also handled a large number of FOI applications. He also worked in insurance and personal injury litigation.
As a barrister he has developed a broad commercial litigation practice in all jurisdictions as well as his continuing specialty in medical negligence and health law. He regularly appears in the County and Supreme Courts.
He has a strong interest in and practice of defamation law as well as the developing area of privacy and issues relating to the internet. It is a growing and new area of law which requires specialist interest and knowledge which he has acquired. He is very interested in internet legal issues and has established a web site at :
